2011 National Congress and Camellia Show

Camellias Australia celebrated a successful and enjoyable National Congress and Camellia Show hosted by Camellias Illawarra in Wollongong in July.

Delegates were treated to bus trips to Berry and the Minnamurra Rainforest walk as well as visits to Greame Oke’s garden and the EG Waterhouse National Camellia Garden.

A Camellia Symposioum was also held, with President of the International Camellia Society Pat Short speaking about ornamental camellias. Laurie Carroll from the St George and Sutherland Camellia Society and Denise Di Salvia from Hume Camellia Society also spoke.

William Walker and June McLeod open the Show.

In excess of 2,100 blooms were on display at the National Show, held at the TAFE Function Centre, which was opened by Illawarra President, William Walker and outgoing National President June McLeod.

Andrew Walker from Falls Creek took out the Grand Champion Bloom with Frank Houser Variegated.
