C.reticulata hybrid ‘Phyllis Hunt’, originated by John Hunt from a cross between C.r.h. ‘Suzanne Withers’ and C.j. ‘Mrs D. W. Davis Special’ and registered in 1994, has been awarded the “Charlotte Knox Reticulata Award” for 2012.  This award is based on the number of times which a specific bloom is entered and wins blue ribbons in camellia shows across the United States.  A points system also plays a role in the decision made by the American Camellia Society’s Awards and Exhibitions Committee.

‘Phyllis Hunt’, which is not often seen on Australian show benches, has also won Colin Baird this year’s Grand Championship, Champion Reticulata and the Albury-Wodonga Development Corporation Award for the Best Bloom of a Reticulata Originated in Australia, at this year’s National Show at Ferny Creek, also the Reserve Championship at the Hume Camellia Show in Albury.
